best all around boat

If you were shopping for a boat for 10k or under that you could use for anything for fishing some smaller lakes to taking on bigger water like the columbia river. What would you be looking for?

unfortunately there is no best all around boat    everyone needs at least 2! haha
any plan to take it over the hill and dump it in the sound for salmon/crab ever? how many guys would you want it to fish "comfortably"
im personally partial to welded aluminum boats.. a bit lighter to tow depending on what your tow rig is.
you could find an older alumaweld, hewes, or something of the sorts to fit the bill.  in that price range, you're really just making sure the motor is in good shape, lots of other stuff is "easy" to work on or replace.
also depends a bit on what type of fishing you plan to do.. my little north river does great for salmon and whatnot, but it's not fun to bass fish out of.
flatter bottom hull will be more stable on small lakes, but hell in chop on bigger water like the columbia when the weather kicks up.

So true. No plans to bring it over to the salt. Intention would mainly be for duck hunting the columbia, summer runs to different beaches on the weekend on the columbia, fishing the lakes in central wa etc.

The tough part for me is hull shape and if I want prop or jet. I would envision at least a modified v hull and prop would be good for most my uses but I do have some duck spots that a flat bottom and jet would be great for.

figured duck hunting would be one of the uses...if beaching, go aluminum for sure.
if entertaining shallow running..go jet.  should be able to find a solid boat in that range.
i think theres a guy on here selling his alumaweld stryker with a jet.

I have a 16' Crestliner Sportsman w40 Merc tiller. I've towed it all over the state and fished it from Puget Sound  to Kalama, Lower Snake, Potholes and even Lake Roosevelt. Its fuel efficient and easy to trailer. Maintenance is pretty easy too. I also use it for duck hunting all winter. You could probably find a used package in this class for under 10k easy.
