Wish I knew more, I think they like to get you in and out as quick as possible in there, put the time in and you should be successful, if you need a ride along one day let me know, I'm not far from the gate and am chomping to get in there on a hunt.
Drew modern deer permit in there years ago. Go talk to the security guys weeks before the hunt. Generally they are happy to give advice. If you wait until opening morning of your hunt, they are busy trying to check everyone in and won't have the time to really give good insight on where to go. I'd have a bear tag in your pocket also and a shotgun for grouse.
They give bus tours through the area. My wife and I took one last August on a Sunday morning. they put you on a school bus and drive thru the watershed. You stop at several spots and look around. Last about two hours. Might give you an idea what the area looks like.
