Non Rich Mans Air Compressor
« on: July 14, 2019, 09:54:44 PM »
In the market for a 60-80 gallon single phase compressor.

My needs:

Must be a vertical tank
Must power die grinder & air sander
Have a 400 amp hand plasma with the requirements of 400 cfh @ 70 psi
Not looking to run a fab shop but also want to "do the work" when I want which includes fabrication and automotive work in a moderate fashion.

Are the Lowes/Home Depot air compressors plenty? Their pricing is attractive. The next upgrade re the Quincy's for more line a grand. I'd prefer to keep the costs under that. Scared of Craigslist. Thoughts?

I'm not sure about the plasma, need to check that you might need cleaner air?   Something to take the oil out?

I'd like to know, I want a plasma torch too someday.

After talking with one man fab shop owners and compressor dealers and based off my needs I went with a Campbell Hausfeld's 80 gallon 2 stage 1P. 5HP. Pick it up next Monday.

Thats what i have.  Can run a DA all day long.  Got it out of a tire store fire, insurance salvage.  No damage.
