Ask Canada.

Tom Nelson is in trouble with NOAA, a United States agency, for actions he admittedly did in US waters.

People in a marina in Canada, a soveriegn nation are fully under the jurisdiction of Canada.

No those parents should be in jail for standing there watching after it happened. The man who jumped in to get her out, was just walking past at the time and jumped in for a total stranger while mom and dad just stood there.

I wonder what the fine would have been if he'd feed him a bullet? Just asking for a friend. :chuckle:

My personal belief is that with John, he was making a point about the mismanagement of the pinnipeds which is aimed directly at the agencies that should be doing a better job.  That agency is also tasked with enforcement and gave him the ticket.  They could have issued a statement, given him a warning, did a joint interview or somehow taken a different approach, but didn't and the wedge gets driven a little bit deeper.

It's hard to argue that he wasn't singled out, but who knows, maybe they issue those tickets all the time.   :chuckle:

In the very beginning of the full article.....who flicked a....to illustrate ....

I read that as to say it was an intentional act to illicit a citation and make his point. He isn't stupid and had to of anticipated and desired the current outcome.

I think I remember an interview where he said neither he nor the news crew knew it was a crime.  Their point was to show how there are tons of seals everywhere.

I didn’t know it was a crime as others mentioned it goes on everywhere there are fish being cleaned in a harbor.
