Saw my first Western Washington yote this morning!
« on: April 01, 2009, 12:45:33 PM »
I saw my first Western Washington 'yote this morning. . .it was less than a mile from my driveway!

Unfortunately I was in my Jeep on the way into school so I didn't have a gun on me. . .and he just ran across the highway in front of me. . .it was about 7:30 AM. . .he didn't look scrawny or mangy either. . .

. . .so now I know they are out there. . .now I just have to call them in!!!

It wasn't placing a box marked "ACME" on the side of the road was it? :chuckle:

You need to come up to the Fife/Milton/Edgewood area. Lots of suburban yotes up here. My parents had one take our cat and one attack our cocker spaniel (quite a while back). The local vet has had a lot of people lose cats to the local yote population. About 2-3 times a month there is fresh sign left on the driveway for us to pick up. >:(

Even in Puyallup (out off of Canyon) there are yotes - had a few calling and wake my wife and me up at about 2am at the end of March.

they are all over _________. shoot they are everywhere. last year i saw 13 total off of main roads in several random spots incuding downtown ____. i shot at one and missed with my .357 at my parents' in ______in the middle of the day. It was funny too. My mom goes"OMG there is a wolf!!" I just ignored her but she kept freaking out so I grabbed the old ruger, snuck out back, was probably 30 yards away and missed my first ever shot at one. I wish I could've found my buckshot instead. :bash:

Every morning when I pull into my parking spot at work here, there is a yote that is walking off. He isnt scared, just walks away. Thinking about popping him with the 9mm pistol one of these mornings.. :chuckle: :chuckle:

They get hit by cars at the 167/18 junction in Auburn all the time. Right now I'm staying North of the Seatac airport and I've seen a few in the woods around here and one right off 518 at about 1 am. They're everywhere.

Over in the UK they have the same problem with urban foxes.  I'll do some digging tonight and post some pics of foxes walking around in central London at about 2am.  Blew me away! Completely unafaraid of people and they would just stare you down until you were within 20ft. And no they weren't those kind of "foxes" either  ;)

There was one out behind Smith Brothers Dairy on the NW corner of Hwy 167 and 277th just about half an hour ago. Looked like a wet bitch, scraggly tail and all... I've seen a couple dogs out there, about once a month for the past two years or so. I also see them a lot off both sides of Hwy. 167 between 277th and the Hwy 18 interchange... lots of them on the east side by Emerald Downs. Once you've trained yourself to watch for coyotes... you see them all over the place.

I wonder what would happen if a guy were to pull over and give one the barrel with the .300 RUM one morning... any of you guys willing to post my bail?

Shoot come out to Black Diamond, they are THICK out here, I'm shocked we have any deer or elk left.  I hear them at night all the time and let me tell you there are a ton of them howling away.

You ain't lyin' Ridge... I live right down the road from you in Maple Valley, saw one cross Kent-Kangly right by Elk Run Golf Course the other day... I've seen a couple of them on that course, and over on Druids too. Saw a monster 4x4 blacktail living in the Donut Hole too.

I laugh every time I see a "lost cat" sign in my neighborhood... one of these days I'll pick up a pile of coyote scat, put it in a bag, and staple it under the lost cat poster with a note that says "Cat found, just add water".

That is hilarious.  You need to get on this and take photos.
