Before or after he was vice president?
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

I wasn't even alive when he was vice president. Lots of people don't like him and I don't agree with his stance on politics, but the guy sure has a lot to talk about.

To me, he was friendlier than the professional athletes I have met on that river.

Jim Teeney, but you guys probably dont even know who that is.  Pretty cool having him bum a fly that the fish were hammering.

His parents use to have a apparel store off of Lombard St. in N. Portland, Oregon. He would sell flies there also.

Had Secret Service ask my ex and me to NOT fish where then-Defense Secretary Dick Cheney was fishing the Middle Fork of the Powder River.  We said no problem and went higher on the mountain.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Jonathan Hilstrandt from Deadliest Catch.  I was gassing the boat and my kid was filling a cooler full of ice at a gas station in Spirt Lake Idaho at sunrise a couple of years ago.

A suburban pulls off Highway 53 rolls the window down and shouts "put blood on the decks brother"  I look up and say "hey your Jonathan..."  Before I could finish my statement he gave a thumbs up and drove off.

I ran into him at a bar in Maple Valley right after season 2. He was wearing that leather jacket with a 8 ball on the back. Both of us standing there waiting to get a beer, I asked him if he was the guy on the show. He smiled and said yes and asked if I watched. I told him I did and he bought me a beer and cheered. :brew:
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

Not fishing but I ran into Cortez Kennedy deer hunting in N. Idaho 20ish years ago.  Cool guy...gave me a ride back to my truck on his 4 wheeler.
