This thread makes me happy. I'm glad we have the folks here that we do. This would have been a crap show if posted in any of the local Facebook groups.
Thank you guys for showing the respect you do.

Congrats on the bear. One less future fawn killer out there. It'll be good eats.

Go shoot the Sow, bring a friend in case the first one had a sibling! Good shootin'! I'd be happy with that bear

That's bigger the any bear I have harvested! which is 0!  I did that with an antlerless elk tag one time.... elk flopped over like it was hit with a truck... I walk up and the trees it was next to got a lot smaller!! there was another elk behind it and they appeared to be the same size so I shot the first one up the hill. Its was by far the best tasting elk I've had.

Tracker, a lot of good comments here. You did OK.  Be glad there are enough bears to see two of them so close together.

Deja vu for me, 'cause I did essentially the same thing as you did some 25 years ago in the fog.  Saw a jumbo bear within 8 feet of me beside my pick-up.  He bailed off of the edge of the logging road while I grabbed rifle, loaded and looked for him.  I saw a bear below in the fog.  It did not look right, seemed small.  I hesitated a second, decided that it had to be the same bear and killed a young bear kicked out from his mother that year.

That hide will make a right fine set of winter undies. Good shot, good kill.

Nice work on the bear! In my eyes all bears are mostly the same. Smaller ones are cheaper to tan and easier to pack out tho.  :chuckle: and less bear meat on them.

I see a dead bear, thats a win.  If you want a big one just get a second tag.  Next year if a bear that size happens to be what i call in, im shooting it.

My buddy did the same thing some years back except his bear was smaller than yours. Sucks...

Smaller bears just become bigger bears by killing fawns, you saved quite a few deer!
And got a few roasts out of it!

That hide will make a right fine set of winter undies. Good shot, good kill.
