What tripod for back country

I have a leupold gold ring 12-40x60 that I need to match up with a nice packable tri pod.  Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thankx

I have been packing a Vortex High Country for years now, light weight and compact. For my moose hunt next month I just bought a Vanguard Alta 203AT. Hopefully it works well.

I have a silk tripod and a outdoorsman mini pan head. Worked great packing it around at 12,000 in Colorado. Wish I had a smaller spotting scope a Swarovski 20x60x 80mm gets heavy.

This is what I have , I took the factory head off and use the head from  Vortex window mount . No problem with my 65mm Swarovski. If I remember I will bring it with me next time I'm up that way

Check out surui carbon fiber tripods and ball heads. My set up was about 250 bucks but as is I can throw my spotter, Binos, and rifle on it. Extremely steady and just a touch over 2lbs with the head on.

I bought the Sirui Combo with the VA-5 head. Love this setup. I like to sit and have the tripod “around” me, really happy with it and the VA-5 head is AWESOME!

Silk, Sirui, Outdoorsman, and others all make great options.  I did not find the Vortex Summit tripod to be very steady (I have a Nikon ED50 scope and Leupold BX-3 10x42s so relatively light optics). 

I'm using the Vanguard Veo 2 Carbon and it's dang hard to beat for the $$.  Light, and solid as a rock as long as you take off the ridiculous rubber booties they put on the feet.  The legs ends have steel caps on them that have stood up great to abuse so far.

I've had a vortex high country for a few years and it's been good. Really heavy glass like an 85 or 95 spotter will have some movement, but just make sure to tighten it down all the way and it's fine. No plans to upgrade anytime soon.

The tripod worm hole.....

Its really really handy to be able to pull legs off and use them for hiking sticks or tent pole...hoping more companys move that direction

Stability is king...stay with arca swiss plates..dont go super light...get the heaviest tripod you can afford to pack...two different tripods is really handy
