Arrow Setup Questions
« on: September 14, 2019, 04:02:57 PM »
I’m planning on getting a new bow for next September. Currently am shooting a Hoyt Carbon RX1 turbo with black eagle rampage 300 spine. I can’t remember the name of the insert system but it’s like a 50gr insert with a 50gr outsert that get screwed in over the top with a set screw. With this I shoot a 100gr head which makes it 200grns up front. My total arrow weight with this is right around 490grns with theee fletch and wrap. The new bow I want will be a new prime in 80lbs. So I’m looking to bump up my arrow weight to 550-600. To do that I’m looking at Easton 5mm fmjs. The spine chart says I need something stiffer than 300. I’ve heard by putting more weight in the back of the arrow the spine gets stiffer. So would I be okay shooting a 300 spine at 80lbs and 29.5” draw if I had a lighted nock, three fletch, and wrap? Thanks!! Any other arrow suggestions??

Look at Black Eagle or another who have 250 spine........that much weight up front changes the dynamics, and its always better to bet a bit stiff rather than under spined.

Easton has a 260 spine in the FMJ and Axis. You can also get weight tubes that go inside the shaft to increase total arrow weight. Easton also has a 75 grain brass HIT insert, coupled with a 125 grain broadhead will put you at 200 up front.
