Tough hiking not many deer. Beautiful place. Leave the rifle at home and take a trout rod instead.
Well here's to hoping I don't get eaten by a bear
Well if that area is so lacking are there high buck areas better?
I don't have first hand experience in the other wilderness areas but I can tell you about Col. Bob. I climbed it 3 times this summer. Not one sign of deer. I wouldn't waste my time trying to fill a deer tag up there. Bear on the other hand is a different story. In 3 trips, I've seen 4 bears. Bear sign all over the place. The last time I was glassing others summits from Col. Bob and saw 3 about a mile away. One of them was the biggest bear I've ever seen. He stood out like a sore thumb with the naked eye.
