My hunting partner this year had a 120 qt. Coleman extreme cooler to which he added 1/2" foil insulation panels. It kept frozen food and Ice frozen for a week. The materials cost him something like $10, including the screws, washers, and insulation. The cooler cost him $60. It won't stop a grizzly, but other than that it performed better than any cooler I've seen to-date. Worth a look.

yep, if you don't care what the cooler looks like you can take a cheap cooler and really improve it's ability to hold temps with some after market additions.

Yetis are great because they have 2" of dense insulation on the sides and 3" on top and bottom. They also have a very good interlocking seal on top.

If you take a cheap cooler that has a reasonable seal on top, you can simply add insulation panels to improve it's ability to hold temps.

You can also spray foam insulation into the lids of the cheaper cooler because they're hollow - no insulation. That in itself would improve holding temps greatly.

I bit the bullet and finally forked out some cash for some quality coolers. I never had an issue with keeping things cold but I would just destroy my coolers on hunts. I was going through a 150qt
costco  igloo a year.  After 4 or 5 states worth of getting beat around they were just getting destroyed. We shall see how the new ones take the abuse.

I have the next size up from this, it is about twice as tall and has a cutting board on top of the lid. They are epic but you cannot move it when it is full.

If you were really abusing stuff these look sweet.

does it come with a forklift to move it  :chuckle:

I think it was the cabelas in Lacey where I saw it but it was a 400qt with lift skids. Thing could fit my whole family in it :chuckle:

I ended up going with double 80qt. Gives me some modularity and mobility.

With all the hinges and latches I have put on my big igloo I could have probably bought a Yeti.  They are awful proud of their spare parts.

I got to where I would just replace them with cabinet hinges the day I bought them so I didnt have to deal with the inevitable breakage  :chuckle:
