NAFA, out of the wild fur business

Well, it looks like I was too optimistic. NAFA is not going to handle wild furs this year. Will they ever again?
Can FHA handle everything. Looks like FHA and private dealers are all there is this year. Maybe send to some State auctions.
Not a good outcome, Retrenchment in an industry is never a good thing.
From what I read mink ranchers are the ones got NAFA in financial trouble. They were bailed out. Trappers got screwed.
Hope you are not one of the many holding a rubber check.

Sad sad day! What to do? We do have buyers come to our Winter Rendezvous and George Brady has been making the event. He is an agent for Fur Harvesters, The last wild fur auction house standing.
It will be interesting to see if FHA ramps up their ability to handle more fur. Hard to see how this will not have a negative effect on prices at least short term.
If you are in E WA you have a few more choices, couple buyers over there plus ID state auctions. Not good though wherever you are I think.

My buyer from last year sells to FHA. Couldn’t imagine being amongst the trappers with checks that bounced. Truly sorry for all of them!
