that's a tank....this little turd keeps hanging around eating the wife's roses.  showed up again at 3:30 this afternoon.  She keeps threatening to buy an archery tag.  He comes right up on the back patio to eat her plants

Absolutely stagnant in my areas the last two days, hardly anything moving. Out after them at the crack of dawn again tomorrow.

Between taking care of my dad (94) in the hospital and doing home care, and helping the wife with her mom (97)  my early season was a total bust. Missed the entire regular season plus out annual turkey hunt, I was bummed to say the least. Missed going out on Thursday due to mother-in-law party at her care center, asked sis to take dad for an MRI so I could get away. Today after setting sporting clays targets at Evergreen got an invite to hunt some private property. While having coffee at his cabin and planning here comes a nice fat spike with only this afternoon and Saturday afternoon I told my buddy I would harvest but my gun and ammo was in the truck, he says what do you want to use? I chose his Winchester High Wall in 30-40 with an old K4 Weaver, it only gave me a head shot (not a Texas) at 70 yards. Well it now meat in the freezer, don't want to post photos of a dink.

I saw 2 bucks this morning and one at 5:15pm.
This morning I get into my spot at about 730. I've never been there before, so I had to hold up at the tree line until I could see and wouldn't scare any deer off in the dark.
It was totally fogged in. At around 9:30ish the fog gave me a short window to actually see the tree line. As I started glassing a deer sounded the alarm.  I thought it was at me, but when I looked over to my left I saw a very nice buck charging a smaller buck. I quickly grabbed the gun and was trying to reposition on the stump I used for a rest. Just as I got on him it was starting to fog up again. I could still make him out , but visibility was fading fast and he wouldn't stand still.......then it was all white :bash:
I could here them every now and then. The fog kept teasing me, (most blacktail hunters know how much fun that is >:()I thought it was going to clear up again at any moment.
Finally it did for a few minutes and I saw the 2 point, but not the big guy.
Eventually around noonish it cleared up for the rest of the day. Didn't see anything till after closing time. I broke a few sticks climbing back up to the road. All of a sudden I heard a deer running. I assumed it was running away from me, but it was actually coming right at me in a hurry. That same 2 point must have thought I was a doe and wasn't going to be last to the party. He stopped about 30yards from me. thats where he stayed as I kept heading up to the road. Long story short, they were pretty active in that cut. I might try a little rattling tomorrow if it feels right. :yeah: :bdid: :dunno:

I’ve driven by the same blacktail spike 3 times in the last month including today (he was with a doe for the first of the 3 times I saw him today)

Too bad it’s right next to lake Sammamish where I can’t hunt with a gun  >:(

Still really slow in 633 and 627,  Deer are playing hard to get.  Tried some still hunting in the timber hoping to find a doe being tended by her buck.  Nuthin!  Out in a cut, around  1030, found a doe, yearling and fawn feeding looking very relaxed.  Watched them for a half hour till they went off to bed. Heard a possible shots on deer around 1000 - seven quick shots in two seconds or so - AR or handgun fire.

Had to run into Federal Way for girls swimming state meet, then rushed back out to catch the evening hunt.  Two hours in the box and nothing moved. Worst day of the season?  I heard no other shots all day. No deer on the roads all the way back to "camp".   Tying to find something different to do that may change my luck.  Ir can only get better.   :IBCOOL:

Saw more than I did in that neck of the woods. My son I drive the boundary road of 627/633 almost every night after dinner in the dark(I live 5 min from the main clear cut I hunt) The past week we haven’t seen a single deer on probably 4 drives. These usually yield 6-10 deer a night. Kind of strange.

Not a monster by any stretch of the imagination, but he was bird dogging hard instead of being on the lookout for hunters.

It took him a bit to stand still long enough for a shot! It was a longer drag than I would have liked, I definitely should have cut him up!

Good luck to everyone this weekend.
