Well I am waiting on a picture, one of my buds took a boy out and he got his first turkey at 7:00 AM...Nice Rio Grande 7" beard. When I get pic I will post...He got it on some of the property we lease. The kid was really excited, I heard he hit it and knocked it down it tried to get up he was so excited he missed the follow up shot...LOL and then finsihed the bird with a clean 2nd shot. First Blood Baby!

We struck out. The birds were very cold. We got into about 5 seperate toms but they just weren't into it. They'd answer occasionally and mill around a bit but would not come in, it just didn't work out. Didn't here one hen all day.

I talked with another buddy who had his daughter out all day..they said same thing toms henned up would gobble but not come in where he was hunting. It was a fun day he said. She carried her gun the whole day without complaining...he was proud of her he said.
They know of another kid that got a nice tom but the parents had the kid jump out of the pickup and shoot at it in front of my buddies yard
, that is a great hunt, pathetic... I hate it when parents get so jiggy they will have their kids do things they shouldn't to kill a turkey, they learn to make bad judgement calls which teaches them its ok to jump out of a vehicle and shoot at a turkey in someones yard.
I would rather call in a big ol tom strutting in front of my kid and have him learn the right way..Its the hunt we want to pass on. ..

Yelp, that is sad, lets teach the young ones the complete wrong way of doing something, what the heck kind of memory, experience did that kid get from that?

It baffles me that anyone, child or adult, would even want to kill a turkey that way? Whats the fun if you don't call it in? I don't get it. Hopefully the kid will get hooked to turkey hunting and discover there is a far better, far more fun way to hunt turkeys.

Sad to say the least ... had a 30 something slip in hundreds of yards across private land and blasted a tom out of a tree next to my friends house last year. #1 my friend would probably have given him permission to hunt if asked, and #2 people don't need to disrespect themselves and this proud bird in order to harvest one. Bad examples of hunters and humanity ...
