WOLVES IN UNIT 117 "CALISPELL MEADOWS"

My buddy and I hunted for 8 days in GMU 117 for the late Whitetail. Ive never seen so much Wolf traffic in my life! We only saw a handfull of deer the entire trip we had to change areas the last few days and my hunting partner killed a little 3 point in GMU 121. Something needs to be done about the WOLVES i fear its already to late.....

I had the same experience in 117 with wolves the area I hunted was almost void of deer. I also think cougars are a big culprit in the decline of deer.

Wolves have been tapping that area since before 2002.   You know, before Washington even had wolves. Lol

it's a bone yard if you tromp around through the meadows,  do it when its frozen solid though

Found these tracks near calispell peak in early October. Are they wolf tracks? That's my boot track next to it for reference (women's size 8 1/2)

I know of 5 cats killed in the last week in 117 a double and triple

Yeah no nails and how round they are. Wolfs aren’t nearly as round.

Got this wolf on cam up near calispell peak in late september. Right before our moose hunt. Definitely wolves up there. We didn't see any wolf tracks while we were there, but we did cut fresh cat tracks. Bobcat and cougar

South side of Calispell Peak and Winchester rd along the top and the powerline cut have had LOTS of cougar sightings. Everyone I know who went up there this year saw a cougar or fresh cougar sign. Go get um tag holders!

If you're hunting whitetail, calispel Meadows is over 4 miles to high..... whitetail are lower!
I hold alot of access to highly coveted areas up there. Yes wolves are present up there, but we have no problems filling our tags for the n that area.

Been exploring like crazy for the last few years. One area I scoured quite a bit was calispell peak area. One day in August I saw 3 black wolf pups in about 100 yards of road, just pass the meadow. We are in 204 for the last 12 years. Have not seen any wolves but the cats are taking over. I have 3 maybe 4 on camera on our 60 acres. We have seen them all hours of the day and night. Of course, you never see them with a gun in your hand. The problem is such that we worry about our 7 and 4 year old granddaughters playing outside.
