My next truck, if I can hold out 5 or so more years, will most likely be an electric vehicle.

They're coming out with new batteries (solid state batteries) that will be a big improvement what we have now.  1000 mi per charge feasible?

I envision these new solid state batteries being in a cassette, drive to a "gas station" and do an exchange like we do propane tanks now, and drive off.   Also the batteries make personal drones much more feasible.

Any idea how those batteries handle in towing conditions? Watched something where they tried towing with an electric truck and it cut the range in half.

kills your MPG too  :dunno:

solid state batteries are suppose to be basically impervious to cold or heat too, so winter driving wouldn't suffer other than increased rolling friction of snow tires and plowing through slush, snow and other winter gunk.

The implications of a battery like this is huge, and hard to over state.

Dropping from 15 mpg to 11 of so pulling my dual axle equipment trailer loses me only 80 or so miles off my range of 300 miles (round numbers). 220 miles is alot better than the less than 100 I saw. I'd be very very interested once they get the range up. The power and torque outputs for a towing rig would be fantastic.

TFL did a towing test with their model x towing a box trailer that weighed about 5,000 pounds if I remember right. The range of the model x dropped 2/3

Texhnology opinion aside that is an ugly sob

Can’t wait to see one of these pull up in the field, I’ll know it’s maga_j, WH2 or some other liberal, global warming do-gooder...not that I’m holding my breath that either of them actually “hunt”! :chuckle:

I watched the live unveiling and the whole family thought it was a prank.  I’ve never seen such a poor presentation, it looked like they had 10 minutes to prepare.

Such a disappointment, but Chev and ford will only be 2 years out though.

Rumors are it isn’t even a real production ready truck, they didn’t show the interior and it doesn’t have mirrors.

Good for the hipsters with an extra $100 laying around.

I'm a GMC owner, and I like GM vehicles, but General Motors' first electric pickup truck will be no beauty queen, either.

Why can't an electric vehicle look like a regular petroleum powered rig? Is it just the "look at me" factor?

Just like the Concept cars of the sixties. Attention grabbers, reality may be different.
