Why is it that when you pull out a gas engine, and drop in an electric motor, you have to make the thing look like a gay spaceship?

The quietness of it would be cool too. I know I'm in the minority but I don't like a loud exhaust, a nice quiet pickup would sound better to me.

Careful AP, that comment can be construed as bigoted and homophobic!

I'm a GMC owner, and I like GM vehicles, but General Motors' first electric pickup truck will be no beauty queen, either.

That’s not a GM product. Lordstown Motors was spun off from Workhorse when they left the consumer market this year.

Texhnology opinion aside that is an ugly sob

Can’t wait to see one of these pull up in the field, I’ll know it’s maga_j, WH2 or some other liberal, global warming do-gooder...not that I’m holding my breath that either of them actually “hunt”! :chuckle:

I don't hunt with a truck.

I think its safe to say though, that electric vehicles are the future. Once they figure out the batteries, there will be no disadvantages over internal combustion (except the exhaust note). If I had a way to charge it, I'd have a Tesla right now for commuting. My only anxiety with a truck would be multiple days in the woods. I've had several regular car batteries die during camping trips. I would need a little assurance that an adventure rig could sit in state for a week without draining out

At one point in history, a guy sat in his house with his horses munching hay outside and made the same observation about internal combustion engines.

The future is clearly electric, but we have a few steps to go for sure.

I'd assume that these future trucks will drive themselves to a charging station, and then come back to pick you up.  Or it would have a special emergency start/reserve setting for extended parking.  Maybe a charging drone will land on it in the parking lot.
