Elk On Tiger Mountain?
« on: November 19, 2019, 09:30:12 PM »
Looking at unit 454 and any elk late archery, I wonder if there's any elk up in Tiger Mountain. I've seen a few blacktails close to the highway, however, I've not ventured up into higher elevation.  Has anyone ever taken an Elk there?

A few on private land in the SW corner. That's about all. Good luck.

I can see why they would go there. Not much, almost none existent, designated public access and I would assume they get left alone until projectiles start flying.

I will not be hunting there for myself. However, I am doing a bit of research for my fiancé in hopes of easing her into elk hunting, without much suffering.

There are elk just across 18 to the east. Assume they cross the road from time to time.

I've never seen an elk on Tiger as long as I've lived here but they have ventured around on rare occasions.
I've had trail cams up for years and last year I had 2 rag-horn bulls walk by. They were headed NE on a ridge and I've never seen them since.
Other than that - I've never even seen an elk track on Tiger. I do hope they start the inroads here though. Would love it to be like North Bend with elk all over everyone's yards.

That is GMU 460 not open in late season.

Not suggesting he hunt there amongst all the hikers and mountain bikers.  Saying it's close to Tiger and there are elk.

Most of the areas directly across highway 18 from Tiger Mountain are GMU 454.

The Raging river is the border between 454 and 460.
