My guess is that its going to be a great way to kill most of a day. But most likely go home smeltless.Things could change overnight. But I doubt it. Was down at Willow grove yesterday. saw a few gulls down at Abernathy and a couple pinnipeds out in front of the park, but that was it. Drove up westside highway from kelso to Castle Rock. Nothing.
Smelt dipping is WA is a joke, Originally being from the Great Lakes area we'd go smelt dipping and bring home a 32 gal garbage can full in 3 to 4 hours then spend the rest of the day and part of the night cleaning, wrapping and freezing.

I'm originally from Michigan. The Great Lakes smelt fishery is in even worse shape last I checked. Been that way for 20 years now from what I recall. And 32 gallons, no thanks, 1 gallon is the most I ever want to clean in a sitting.Quote from: Jingles on February 11, 2020, 08:25:05 AMSmelt dipping is WA is a joke, Originally being from the Great Lakes area we'd go smelt dipping and bring home a 32 gal garbage can full in 3 to 4 hours then spend the rest of the day and part of the night cleaning, wrapping and freezing.
Well, my buddy just filled their five limits in 15 minutes. Guess it was okay! 😏
