Check out Anthony Ward at Crown Ridge Barrel Works up in Colville.  He keeps XCaliber blanks on hand and is quick.

He chambered a Proof blank, cut and rechambered a 300WM to 308 Win, both with muzzle threads and threaded the muzzles on 2 of my other barrels in about 3 days

Pretty sure the 243 barrel is on its way out. Thinking about playing with a new cartridge for a barrel or so.  Looking for some ideas to ponder. Would prefer to stick with the same bolt face but might change that, 6mm or larger cal., run in SA ai mag, and not a creed bore.

Just wondering why? Did you run a good optical borescope through it?  I've always been surprised as to how many folks sell a rifle or rebarrel it due to it "being shot out" only to find it was copper fouled from years of just standard cleaning.
no I cleaned it to bare metal. Never has this barrel had copper fouling.  I stopped talking about it since folks never believe it but zero copper.  My cleaner tunes blue as hell with copper but zero copper from this barrel.  Zero!   700 is not unheard of for 243 run like this one has.  I can probably get another 300 from it for hunting but accuracy is past what I expect.  At 100 1/4” is normal but velocity spread makes it useless for my purposes.   I’ll say it once more. Zero copper weather you choose to believe it or not is your choice.  I just know what I see.

No offence meant, just asking the obvious based on my own experiences.  Is it the throat that's showing erosion, or ?
no offense taken.  Idk exactly where the erosion is. I just know the signs of a barrel going out.  First sign has always been es going crazy

Why not build a 24 nosler?

nosler is a bad word in my household.  Plus I’m stuck with short action

No Nosler, No Creedmoor..... sounds like a Rebel in the house? Hehe.

I’m thinking a 6mm would be a good 1000 yard plinker while big guns cool down.  You have me thinking about a new build.   Trying to avoid a man bun gun myself.

the 243 was pretty easy at 1000. Did finally get hits at a mile.  Conditions had to be perfect to see impacts

Not bad just not great.   I’ll admit I’m a speed freak when I comes to rifles.   Looking up the gt I’m thinking......meh.   To put things in perspective I was contemplating a 6mmsaum
Or 6mm/6.5 prc
