Do you know what brake you are going to go with? I shipped my rifle out to the guys at Defensive Edge and it was a pretty quick turn-around time.

You could send the barrel to Magnaport.com or if you are close to Covington take it to Mike Palazzo, he is an awesome gunsmith.

Vais would be the brand that I would put on mine if I were looking.  Ship your gun to them - short turn around.  Quitest muzzle brake I have ever heard.

Mike does good work... he put the Defensive Edge break on my Sendero and had it done in less than a week. His # is: 253-631-3659

He also builds a break that's very similar to the Vias... although I'm not a fan of the radial style breaks. If you're putting it on a Sendero, the baffle style breaks (Defensive Edge, APS) seem more effective and quieter... they also don't blow dirt all over the place because they aren't ported on the bottom. I put a DE break on my .300 RUM Sendero... and I think it kicks less than my .25-06 now... well worth the $$$.

Have you tried a Sims recoil pad on your gun yet?  That will do a lot to reduce recoil and I would certainly do that before installing a muzzle break. :twocents:
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

A good recoil pad is nice... but it does nothing to reduce recoil... only make it more tollerable. The only way to spot you own shots is to drastically reduce the amount of recoil... that's where a nice break comes in.

I have the same gun, same brake, and same results. The only reason I didn't use the guy Josh is suggesting is because I live down south, and it was more convenient for me to ship my gun out.

thanks for all the info.  i'm in graham so i am not too far from mike in covington.. if i go with the DE brake do i have to order it myself or let mike order it?  about what would the cost be to install it on my sendero? i really don't want one that is too much bigger in diameter than my barrel. (.825") i've tried replacing the recoil pad but it is like super glued on and i don't want to ruin the stock.

You order them from Shawn at defensiveedge.net... get the midsize one, I believe it's .825 or .850... only slightly larger in diam than the Sendero pipe. Mike charged $75 to install it I believe, and like I said... I had it back in a week.

I should be getting some kind of kick-back from Shawn... I think I've sold like 10 of those things for him. They're frickin' sweet though, I'm seriously considering ordering a custom one for my .25-06... I think it'd kick about like a .22-250. I hated brakes untill I used this one... now I'm kind of a recoil pansy.

I put a Vais on my brother's .338.  Kicks like a .308 now.  It is a lefty action and I can shoot it right handed no problem with the bolt clipping me.
