Kathy had passed some black bear hoping a nice off-color bear would show up, sure enough her patience prevailed, she nailed a nice off-color boar on the third evening of her hunt. He's wet which makes him look black in the photo but he's actually chocolate colored. Congrats Kathy, well done!

Story please
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

Billy nailed a killer old Merriam’s Tom with some dandy 1 1/4 spurs and a double snood, the first double snood we have ever taken. Nice going Billy, awesome bird!  :IBCOOL:

Dale do you think that the double snood could be from people spraying herbicides? Similar to the hoof rot on elk?

Not on this bird, he came from a large private property that almost never has used chemicals/herbicides. I think it's just a fluke of nature on a big old bird.

Lars with a nice looking Merriams Tom. Birds are really breaking up and becoming less predictable, many hens are sitting nests and the hens that are not sitting don’t appear to be as big of attraction now. Gobbling has been less, but there are still some birds gobbling.
