Nice turkey! And saving some young ones while your at it. Did you get him with your turkey gun and if you did how close

I did.  Winchester 1300 with a Patternmaster Code Black Turkey Choke shooting Federal TSS #9's.  Shot at 6 yards, in one side and right out the other.

Why on earth would the game dept. waste money collaring a yot???? :dunno:

Well, I heard back from the University of Washington today.

His name, Coyote 4.  He was trapped and collared by UW on Aug 30 2018, just east of Diamond Lake. His estimated age when trapped was was between 2-3, making him roughly 4-5 when he died.  He had a pretty small home range, compared to some coyotes, of 35 sq/km.  He was part of the WDFW and UW Predator/Prey project, research on the implementation of wolf populations and their effects on other predators/prey.  The collar is going to be returned to UW so they may conduct more research on his behaviors and movements.  I gave them what pictures I had and also the coordinates of his location, so they can attempt to study him further.  Overall, a very informative and awesome experience.

I read a actual wildlife study from UofI as I recall a couple of years ago.  It was written by a grad student but the theory was wolves are displacing Yotes.  I some one at the UW read the same thing and is setting out to disprove or prove it

I find it very interesting that usually within hours to days of having a wolf on camera, there is a yote or a pack of yotes following.  The last set of pics I had had three yotes following a wolf and pissing on my deer feed.....dirty little suckers.

Wonder if they follow the wolfs to clean up the kill after the wolf leaves??

I mean I bought the call on Monday and started using it. Just cause turkey opened on Tuesday doesn’t mean I can’t practice with a call the day before to be prepared.
