Shrimp
« on: June 11, 2020, 09:49:44 PM »

Had a good day today. Two pots, two pulls, two limits. Almost as much fun was watching the Gamies at the boat launch, man they were busy. Also saw another Gamie with binoculars checking the fleet and radioing to his buddies at the launch. Methinks there were some expensive shrimp today.

Yep, good conditions minus some rain up north.

If you are down south, dropping before 7 am is easy money for WDFW.

easy limits for our boat and my buddy's yesterday as well.
had a couple of pots with 100+
this was definitely the most WDFW enforcement i'd seen at the launches in many years.
all in all, good day on the water with some good friends
i've been able to get out shrimping 3 days so far this year, definitely taking a bit of the sting away from most of the winter blackmouth season getting shut down

WDFW had heavy presence in MA12.

I've shrimped for almost 20 years and the only place I have seen WDFW was once at Discovery Bay.  There have been checkers at the docks in Everett, but not Wardens.  I fish 8-2, 7S, 7W in August and used to fish 6 quite a bit.

Shrimp tacos are my new favorite way, we also had shrimp poke bowls which were awesome.  For years we did the big boil which is good, but I should have started trying new things years ago.

Fried is good too, but a big mess after a day of fishing.

What’s your favorite way?

You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.

I’m a sucker for shrimp tacos! Have you tried putting some shredded extra sharp cheese as your base?

My favorite is egg dip, cornflake crumbs and deep fried. Making shrimp ceviche for the first time in about five minutes. I never eat mine the day I catch them, other than maybe some fresh out of the shell. They peal much easier the next day. Boiling in the shell makes them taste like mud IMO.

We were in your neighborhood Thursday picking up shrimp pots from the Callahans. Never been to Decatur island, cute place, super quiet.
