Homebrew night pic problems
« on: April 12, 2009, 10:16:26 AM »
i just finished my first camera the other night. it takes really good day pics but not so good at night. the top half of the pictures look really smokey or foggy. they also have big white dots. im sure this is problems with the flash. i dont have the cord for the w80 so i cant post the pics. does my flash hole look too small? has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions? thanks

Do you have a gasket(seal) around the inside of the flash hole.  Just thinking that some light could be bouncing into the lens hole from behind.

I was thinking that if there is a open space between the camera flash and the glass cover then some of the flash light might be bouncing around into the backside of the lens hole and causing a reflection.  You may just need some kind of foam gasket to seal the flash to the case so no light bounces around inside the case.

Def. sounds like a flash bleed problem.  I have taken and used silicone before and bead it up on the inside of the door to make a seal and let dry and that will seal.  Foam gasket works too.  Gotta keep the flash from bleeding in though.  Good Luck
