Things used to sell out alot faster...just starting to get back to those days

   Very true. Before the banking crisis my elk hunts would be sold out by January, it's going to get like that again as the economy gets better again. Next year might slow it down some with the fee increases, but I still expect it to sell out pretty early.

Nice of them to keep their site updated  tags went from 3900 available on the 19th to “oops they’re gone!”

I was thinking the same thing. One of my hunting partners was procrastinating and I kept telling him...and now he's become camp cook and designated packer.

They update the tag numbers every Friday, same as always, the problem is that hunters are really wanting to get out hunting, I don't think I've ever seen that many tags go in a week.

FYI: Its the general deer tags that sold out, you can still buy whitetail only tags, but I doubt they last very long, buy tags now if you want them.

The fee increases for next year could be part of the reason deer and elk sold out so fast this year.  Some people may have figured that if they are going to hunt Idaho, they may as well do it before prices go up.

The fee increases for next year could be part of the reason deer and elk sold out so fast this year.  Some people may have figured that if they are going to hunt Idaho, they may as well do it before prices go up.

I'm sure a few people bought for that reason but most of the calls I get (several a day) don't seem to even know that's going to happen, they just want to go hunting and idaho has OTC tags.

Don't know if it will help anyone but if you have a child or are a disabled vet you can still purchase a regular deer tag under the Mentored/DAV tag as of 6/30
