The designation is NOT just the fact that its a motor.  :bash: it is not being designated as a vehicle either.

So a regular bike is a vehicle but a motorized one isn’t?

Seriously considering twin 40hp electric motors on a 22 foot salmon boat for local pond fishing now.  Or maybe cruise down the Burke Gilman in a tesla?

A bicycle is a legal road vehicle, just like a car. This means that bicycle riders have the same rights and responsibilities as drivers.
From WA DOT. So a bike with a motor would be a motorized vehicle right?

Good point.

So when a thief steals another kids bicycle they should be charged with stolen vehicle.   :o (is this better)?

You do know that when someone steals a car it’s theft of a MOTOR vehicle right? So if a kid steals an electric bike maybe he will be charged with it. Doesn’t mean a bicycle isn’t a vehicle. These are simple terms that are easily defined.  :dunno:

This is a little off topic but just think of the folks blowing stop signs:

After reading the two articles, the new law seems to make sense. If it's safer to allow bicyclists to yield instead of coming to a complete stop, then I see nothing wrong with it.
