So late to the conversation but I was one of the clockum archery bull tag holders. If you were able to check your emails,  the game department gave you an option to return your permit to restore your points. It just had to be post marked within 7 days of your hunts opening day. I hunted pretty hard for 6 days with not hardly any bulls talking. But did see some true B&C bulls. I did return my permit, no regrets and wasn’t willing to hang 18 points on the line for maybe 5 or 6 days of the bulls possibly getting fired up. I look at it as I got 6 days of practice run for when I get drawn next time plus through this forum I was able to broaden my horizons in the clockum that I’ve hunted for 20 years and thought I knew quite well.

It is complete bs and horse crap that you were able to actually hunt your tag and also return it for your points back.  :twocents:

Yeah how could you have regrets if you got to hunt the Colockum bull tag for a week and then get points back after not filling it?
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Another screw up by wdfw.  Should have had to be postmarked 7 days before your hunt started.  Total *censored*.

You guys are being a little emotional. 7 days before the hunt everything was good no smoke no closures. So why would they offer that. So. actually that reacted as things unfolded. So if you had 18 years riding on it you would hope the game department would have the same compassion when you get drawn under the same conditions.

I don't want to get in it too much, but will mention...

It's also bull crap they closed DNR land to recreation. bull crap people still camped and hunted it and recreated on it and nobody enforced it or even talked to those camps that we heard from.

I did the exact same as Elkstalker. A good practice run. We hunted NFS land we've never set foot in before and camped where we were supposed to. I did call in a nice 6x6 for my buddy so we at least got 1 out of there.

I won't deny we got a gift. I am very appreciative of WDFW.

I'd do what you did.

Glad you got to spend a few day out there.

I’d have done the same thing. If anyone else says any different, they’re full of *censored*.

Im not upset for people taking advantage of what wdfw offered, i am upset that wdfw offered it. Imo they should not be alowing people to hunt on special permits and then if unsuccessful return them for points reinstatement.

Hunted the tag, called in and killed a 6x6, saw B&C bulls, but they weren't bugling enough and points were gonna get burned so you returned it? Doesn't sound like the closures were tag ruining based on that. Not that you owe me an explanation, just how I'm reading what you guys are saying.

I don't blame anybody except WDFW for taking advantage of that BS decision. Gotta say though it's disingenuous to say the tag wasn't worth having with a 6 pt in camp and/or seeing B&C bulls.
