Souixon Unit Fire
« on: September 08, 2020, 06:25:13 PM »
Souixon Unit has a forest fire around the Trapper Creek area.  Not sure how big it is at this time, but it has been confirmed.

Both 54 and 57 rds are closed out of Chelatchie. Talked to NF Rangers coming down out of the area around 5 last night and was told crews were still cutting their way in through all the fresh blowdown.

Considering how badly that area needed to be logged, I wouldnt be surprised if it got a good burn going. bad for this year but could be good for the deer and elk in the years to come...

Log it  or watch it burn...

Yep, let it burn.  Hunted that area hard many years ago until it got too grown up.  Best thing that can happen as long as no firefighters get hurt.

I too hunted that area hard for many years. Sad that the enviros have everything so tied up that good timber cannot be harvested. strange that 6k acres of burn is good but spaced out 3-600 acre clear cuts are bad.

It is 8 miles from my house and closer to some of my friends...I am hoping they don't let it burn for the sake of good hunting in the years to come!

Fires are obviously beneficial for wildlife, but none of that matters to the people packing up and evacuating their homes right now.

If they can contain it to the wilderness will be a good thing.  That dark divide area is godforsaken little used area that could use some feeding areas.
