We got them up around Waldron Island but never of a size we would consider eating. Reading about it they are called a few things, tuna crab, langostilla, pelagic red crab. What is odd is they are pelagic so are suspended in the water column so I always felt it was weird to get them in shrimp pots. Must be the secret bait.
Oh very cool! Haha. Thanks for sharing.
We would catch similar critters in SE AK and was told to call them scampi Never ate them but they were pretty small. Always amazing what you might get in a pot out of the deep. Sea cucumbers are tasty, radial muscles are similar to clam strips when cooked right. Commercial fished for them for a number of years. Never ate the skins, but very popular in some Asian cultures.
Ok, so how'd it taste??? Inquiring minds are waiting...
