Find the clear cuts that you can't drive to/through, and that take some effort to get to. Can't count the number of times I set up an hour or two before dawn on the edge of a promising clear cut, just to have endless trucks slowly rolling through with one person driving and another hanging out the window with a rifle in hand. I'd disparage them, but those tactics filled more tags than than I did there, so while I took home the pride of a good hunt they went home and ate bacon-wrapped backstrap... Although truth be told, if you do see a truck, watch about a hundred yards behind it. Blacktail sometimes spooked at the trucks and moved after the trucks rolled through.
I actually had my best luck there by going on the main road to the north of the property and then looking for the "caution deer crossing" signs and then going 50-100 yards into the woods from there. Road crews often put those signs where they do for a reason...
