If you need some info on some 350 bulls I can help you out.

Elktracker, YES PLEASE!!!!!!! My son drew the same tag this year and I'm always looking for new areas to check. We're headed up right now for the day, but please PM me if you're willing to share some insight.

I’ve seen the same 6x7 EVERY time I have been in a certain area up there... message me if want the intel. Easy to find, especially if have OnX
I hope my message reached you. I’m new to talking to people on here.

I did indeed shoot a 5 point. With limited time and hiking almost 17 miles that day. I’m extremely happy with the opportunity that presented itself. 2 others killed GIANTS.

Well how was your 1st ever elk hunting experience? Most guys haven't even killed a 5 point let alone on their 1st hunt.

That's fantastic man, great work.

I drove in right about 0530. Pitch black of course. After signing in I drove a few miles to the gate I always hike in. It was dark but I was bumping elk left and right for the first 2 miles of my hike. Right about shooting light I got to my glassing spot and the mountain erupted with life. But there was a problem. Zero bulls. We must have seen 30 or 40 cows by 0800. I caught something out of the corner of my eye and moved in for a closer look. It was a monster. He had his head in the trees and showed himself for only a couple minutes. I moved in and got it my sights at 453 yards. But I didn’t have an ethical shot. So I passed. He slipped away into the tree line without knowing I was there. I tried to wait him out. A few hours went by and I got bored. I was fairly sure he was still there so I tip toed into the tree line to see if I could bump him out of his bed. I could hear him but didn’t want to put on any unnecessary pressure, so I decided to hike into another peak. By the time I got to my truck I was exhausted. Hiked a hard 9 miles. I took lunch and drove 15 or so miles up and over to another gate, put on my pack and started walking. The snow started to roll in the last couple hours of the day so I decided to turn back. Just outside the gate I saw a spike and a cow in the road. I started taking pictures. When they busted out I moved maybe another 40 yards and saw some cows on the hillside. With them was my bull. He spooked and left his cows behind. We cow called and he walked right up to me. Perfect shot right behind the shoulder at maybe 40ft. He walked 3 steps and tipped over. Double lung shot. The rest is history. Skinned him out and packed him out piece by piece in the dark
