Tongue is awesome, better than heart in my book.  Elk have a big enough tongue to make it worthwhile, deer not so much.

It has to be prepared and cooked right, probably the most demanding preparation of all meat.  There is really only one right way to do it.

Saved the tongue this year from a cow elk, need to try and cook it one of these days. If you have a link to how to prepare please share.
In God we trust, all others bring cash.

Do not say, Why were the old days better than these? For it is not wise to ask such questions.

I'm having a bull butchered in January, his balls would be heck of a meal for someone not me.

I like deep fried Chicken Gizzards, that is about as close to "looking Like Testicles" I will ever put near my mouth.  :yike:

Roger. Really, I'm up for trying to utilize more parts of game at least once. Don't like liver, i do like heart,  and want to give the oysters a chance.
So, we're waiting!!!!
How were they, you had 2 fresh ones to try yesterday?
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Chopped, the show on food network had a contest with them a while back. Not sure if I could stomach that or not. I guess they have some kind of a lining or whatever it is I am not able to think of right now that you got to get rid of???
I know I like Chicken gizzards though, so rolled in flour and deep fryed if similar maybe...
There is a bar in town that has or had CHicken GIzzards and as a kid that was a main road staple, as in something to munch on, like Jo-Joe's while driving.

"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

We tried them on a bull elk in Idaho... won’t do that again. At first they were good but after the second slice the texture and after taste got you. Tasted like an extremely rutted up bull elk. I do wonder if perhaps they’d taste better outside rut.
