Mike,  Simply measure the actual tarsel gland length, and take a photo with a tape next to it.  That measurement will tell if it is a hybrid/cross or not.  Horns, Hide, or anything else appear to be an indicator, but according to bio's actually the tarsel is the only way to tell.  I have talked to a few bio's and actual hybrid's are actually very very rare and almost never actually identified.

I just got back from the entiat i didn't have a tag, but my buddy did.  We got there on the 5th and came home on the 9th.  First day didn't see much.  But day 2 through 5 we saw a ton of deer.  We saw on average 8-12 4 points in the 20 to 24 inch range every day that would score in the 130 b&c range to low 140's b&c.  Tons of 3pts and 2pts everyday also.   The two biggest bucks we saw we past on. One buck was 165 b&c, and the other buck was a 155 b&c buck. Ended up screwing up on friday mourning and shot a decent 4pt 23 inches wide scores in around 139 b&c.  Most of the deer that we were seeing had huge bodies.  We figured 220lbs and on up.  When we saw the buck we ended up killing we thought he was around three hundred yards away.  And would go around 225lbs.  This made his horns look huge.  After we shot him, finished crying at the ground shrinkage we realized what we had done.  He was about 150 yards away.  And when we weighed him he tipped the scale at 120lbs.  This was the most fun mule deer hunt i have ever been on. We saw tons of deer and very few people.  The weather sucked but we could have still shot a really nice 4pt in the 165 b&c range.  Can't wait to draw this unit myself!!!!

One other thing we hunted really really low.  Thats where we saw the biggest bucks.  We hunted up higher a few times and only saw 2 and 3 points.

I would agree that there are some huge bidied deer over there. I'm posting a picture of my Chiwawa buck hanging in the garage. He was with a smaller 4 pt that we were watching when this guy decided to show himself. When we were making our decision whether to take him or not, the fact that he dwarfed the small 4 pt. made him look that much bigger. I'm unsure of the weight of this buck, but I would guess around 200 lbs. (sorry about the quality of the photo!)

Post some pictures Bigshooter!

Got another one down... hopefully later I'll get the seperate stories up!
Not the biggest buck by any means but it only took him one look through the spotter to say "Oh ya, he's a shooter..."
Also a first muley... 20" wide, 18" tall, good fronts and good mass... this guy put his time in and hunted REALLY hard and was super pumped!

Well as bigshooter said, there is no worse feeling thinking you are shooting a 150" deer at 25" wide and getting up there and he's 130's and 23" wide. I wish I could taken that shot back. Either way, it beats hunting blacktail, and it was by far the most fun i've had hunting. I'll try to get some pictures up, but am having some technical difficulties.

Lots of ground shrinkage going on over there.  :bash:
