Anyone use Wheeler Cerama-Coat?
« on: November 27, 2020, 10:48:52 PM »
I have an old beat up mossberg 500 that I am planning on fixing up a little. Not my main gun, mostly just home defense with a little coyote action here and there.
Bought it years ago for dirt cheap and has very little bluing left and was completely rusted froze and I cleaned it up and shot my first deer with it.
Originally I was going to just rattle can it, but am seriously considering a DIY coating and I like the reviews on Wheeler's Cerama-Coat. Overall I would rattle can it still but I dont want the moving parts of the pump rubbing off or chipping once I work the action some.
The main thing I am curious about that I cannot find reviews on is how far a single can will go. Will I need multiple cans of it for the one gun?
The plan is a new Hogue stock & fore end in FDE, new magazine spring, new safety, and the rest with a new finish.
If one can will do it all then I will go all black. If not then the second can will be OD green. So the barrel, the smaller parts around the slide of the pump, and the trigger guard black, then the receiver & magazine tube OD green.
Anybody's experience with this product is appreciated.
Thank ya!
