We've been taking family vacations to Banks Lake for the past several years. We've been staying at Sunbanks Resort, which has been great, but we've become pretty dismayed with the lack of maintenance and upkeep. Especially the restrooms and showers.  Last year we decided to go to Lake Couer d'alene, which was alot of fun, but we weren't on the lake which was still ok, but more work shuttling the boat around.
We're looking around for other options. Lake Roosevelt has been discussed, but we're not even sure where to begin in looking. The ideal place would have good options for watersports and fishing, fairly quiet and able to have our 18' bowrider in the water or at least close to a launch. In the water is my preference. We'll be a group of 5-7 most likely. If anyone knows of cool places for a lakeside type summer vacation I'd love to hear about them. Either general tips or specific properties you might have info on. We're open to WA, OR, ID or MT. Thanks in advance

Chelan and Roosevelt would be good options.  Pretty sure both would have houses on the lake for rent.  If you want quite chelan may not be the lake though.   You could look at Manson area to get a little further away from the summer chelan crowd.

Lincoln rock and Beebe are both nice campgrounds on the Columbia river. Lincoln is close to wenatchee for groceries and activities if desired and beebe is a few miles from Chelan

Stay on banks just move down to steamboat rock. Cabins they built are simple but nice.

We looked all over for a similar thing for a three family reunion.  We needed a huge house or adjacent buildings, so the search was a bit harder.

We ended up with a gorgeous cabin for a reasonable price, but it was a 10 minute drive to the lake.  It's more convenient to have the boat in the water all week, but we plan on only going to the lake maybe 3-4 days and the other 3-4 days doing other stuff around town.

If you don't plan or need to be on the water every day you have way more options and a lower cost.  Of course, sometimes being on the lake every day is the point though.

I appreciate everyone’s input. Roosevelt is very high on the list. General areas to be looking at?

Lots of campgrounds but two rivers is about your only bet for rental cabin's.

Unless you find a vrbo along the lake.

If you go watch the draw down schedule. Not uncommon to loose a foot of water overnight. :twocents:

Our kids are still a little young, but once they can both swim competently, it’s hard to beat a houseboat on lake Roosevelt. We’ve done quite a few lakefront rental houses. I’m not a huge Chelan person because of how expensive it has become. The water is rough and cold, but lots of houses there and Lake Entiat (also cold water). We have also done priest lake and lake pend Oreille in Idaho. Lake Osoyoos has been on the list to try, lots of really affordable housing options, but we haven’t had luck finding a big enough rental with a nice dock.

Check out Shady Pines Resort in Conconully on the lower lake.
Old hunters never die, they just stay loaded.
