Stolen Zeiss/Swarovski nightmare morning
« on: February 08, 2021, 10:01:04 PM »
Went on a (unsuccessful) shed hunt yesterday. Got home late and was very tired, one those “I’ll unpack tomorrow” type deals. This morning I found my truck had been ransacked in my driveway behind a closed gate. He took everything. Zeiss victory sf binoculars, Swarovski ats 65 spotter, exo pack, tripod, Sitka kelvin jacket and vest, etc... tiger mountain area (Issaquah)

That really sucks. I hope you can find the guy who did it and get your stuff back.

Man I’m sorry to hear that I had my truck broken into and my handgun stolen the other day. It’s out of control and there is no worse feeling

TJ,
If you're behind a locked gate, I'm betting the thief is someone you know or someone (Dirtbag) who lives nearby and has his eyes on the neighbors.
Keep your eyes open on the people in the immediate area.
Remember, Tweakers never sleep, at least at night.

Where do you live on Tiger Mountain?

Good Luck!

I HATE THIEVES!!

Costco and I’m sure Amazon sells cheap motion lights. A little light goes a long way. I hate thieves. I’ve had my truck stolen and another one broken in to losing a rifle and an enormous amount of other stuff. Most of which you slowly realize over the next six months as you start looking for and realize it was in your truck, and you get just as pissed all over again thinking about it. Really sorry to hear this and I hope the POS gets greedy and gets caught trying it again somewhere. Or trades your stuff for a big enough bag of meth that he just ODs

In case you haven't done it yet, check with your homeowners insurance, it's likely covered. All my optics, a rifle, gasoline, and an adjustable hitch were stolen from my truck a few years ago, my homeowners insurance covered about 75% of the loss.

Yes they do. I posted on here in December about my truck being stolen twice in one week. I have since upped my security systems.

Keep an eye out for them on Ebay or Craigslist for your items.

If you havent already put up some trail cameras and it wouldnt hurt to put a camera in your vehicle that will alert you. Ring Stick up cam works great for that.

You mentioned "he" took everything, and someone else said the "guy". Understand it could have been a female, or a team of both male and female. They often work as a team, one being the watcher. And I agree as a couple said, " they almost always hit twice "!

Your homeowners/renters insurance might cover it! I got in a wreck bringing our washer/dryer home and car insurance didn’t cover it but renters insurance did. Hope the cops find the criminal!
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Not a female. Neighbors up the hill had “ring” video of the perp. Mountain bike getaway. He also hit several other houses. It looks like our homeowners insurance will cover it. $1,000 deductible though

My son lives on TMR just up from the store about 1/2 mile, he was ripped off a while back.
Where are you at if you don't mind me asking?

Real bummer Trav, I feel for ya. I had my pickup stolen a while back with a bunch of hunting stuff in it and a tool box full of all the woods/hunting truck necessities, still pisses me off

Sorry for that.
I cannot stand thieves. My wife’s car got hit twice several years ago.

The best thing I ever did was go to Harbor Freight and for ten bocks buy a drive way chime.

Anything breaks the beam ding dong right next to my bed.

Peace of mind.

This is a great idea. After having my side by side stolen recently I’m beefing up the security system a bit. Its not all about having a gun i learned!

I swear by the chamberlain driveway alarm
You can get multiple modules that chime with different number of chimes
I use that and also home security cams on the cell phone and ADT works pretty well
Use a backup game cam or 2 and your golden

Really it’s better than cameras, which I have. But cameras are after the fact, the chime is real time and if you are home you might deter them before and damage is done.

Once they figure out that you are alerted, they might pass you by next time. :twocents:

Not sure what cameras you're referring to, but nearly all the models I look at these days are in real time sending messages to my phone the second they happen.

Well I guess it depends on how attached you are to your phone. My cameras send to my IPad I don’t own a smart phone. And that’s ok if you are way from home.
But in the middle of the night I think the chime works better.
Most camera shots I have don’t give a good enough pic to ID in a lot of cases.

The Op knows it was a guy on a bike. Not much help getting his stuff back. Had he been alerted at the time maybe he would still have his stuff.  :dunno:

I guess in real time I meant alerted right now. If your phone tone will wake you up right now, that works too.

I’m going “all in” on security now... ring, motion lights, and I like the idea of the chimes as well.
