I got rejected for Henry's deer and put in for points only elk.  Glad to see someone on the site is drawing tags.   :chuckle:  Good luck on the hunt - bring home a slammer!

I just put in for points...  But congrats on a great tag.   Fish lake is a fine tag.  Work hard and be selective.

To make the best use out of the tag I decided to hire a guide. I like DIY but i can't take a chance with this probably once in a lifetime tag. Everyone i talked to said it's a waist of time to scout in the summer because by november the bulls are moving down to their wintering areas. I don't have time to go three or four days early and scout so I am using a guide. I'm using http://www.hightopoutfitters.com they take some nice bulls and are pretty fair price for a 1 on 1 guided trip.

Here is a picture of a bull a guy got with the guide I'm using on the late Fishlake hunt. I would be stoked with a bull like this.

WOW!  Once in a lifetime is probably pretty close for a guess!  Good luck, and don't forget to have someone along who will video the whole thing, from leaving your front door until you return.  Make sure it's someone who knows what to video and that you trust knows how you hunt and what to do in close proximity to elk, and you will end up with a priceless memory saved forever!  It's going to mean extra time spent shooting the background footage and plenty of possible headaches when the bull is 30 yards out, but it'll be worth it in the long run.  Good Luck!
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

Craig,

Congrats on the tag. You are smart man to hire an outfitter for a once in a lifetime hunt so far away.

I hope your hunt is an experience of as lifetime. Looking forward to the story an d the picks upon your return.
