Came off the roost straight for me. Quick morning.
God made man, Samuel Colt made them equal.

Got my first one this morning!  What a rush, I called him in by copying a hen that was with him word for word (thank god it was the mouth call and not complex) until I saw him and then stopped.  He came into the hen decoy and that was that.  23 paces away.  Not sure if I could've scripted it any better.   The ol' SP-10 with an Indian creek choke and Winchester Double X, #5's  did the trick!  And not one pellet in the breast, lucky or not, I am very happy with myself.  8" beard and 1-1/8" spurs.

Number one this morning came behind me.  Acting skiddish.  Had my wife and a army vet 10 yards in front of me.   He wasn't heading towards them so waited for him to get behind a tree and swing enough to get a shot.   Dropped him 30 feet.  9.5" beard nubs for spurs.  Heavy big bird.

First bird of the season was taken at 5:30pm at 30yds. He didn’t make a sound coming in. My new Benelli Super Vinci dropped him with 3.5” Winchester Long Beards out of a long beard choke. Only about a 7” beard and nubs for spurs.

Not this time around.  After I shot that bird they totally changed.  Didn't come back to the roost.  This morning I had 2 new hunters and watched them on a roost and of course flew off opposite direction.  Once they hit the ground.  They tightened up and not a peep.  I was on property thay hasn't been hunted.  Yesterday evening played around with them but wouldn't come into anything.  They do seem to be still in decent sized flocks.  The group I had going yesterday evening was at least 30 plus birds with lots of toms and jakes.
