Upland hatch

There doesn’t seem to be many quail in the Crescent Bar area this year My feeder is usually full of new birds by now. How about other areas? Anybody seeing quail or pheasant broods?

I was up in North Central WA in late April and there were quail all over the place!

I see massive amounts of quail,not seeing any young pheasants yet

Quail and grouse all over the place around here. Well at least before the 🔥

Quail at my place had a second (at least) hatch. The the earlier ones were flying in June, and the new guys were about the size of golf balls 2 weekends ago.

I was over around Grand Coulee couple weeks ago and saw several broods of small ones.

I seen quite a few broods this year, this one was in the road so I made sure none got run over

I agree, Had a nest in my yard July 26th. Double hatches this year as well...

Went out to dispatch a skunk and seen at least 50 young pheasant,I was really happy about that

It’s great to hear people are seeing birds. Maybe those free roaming cats around me are the problem.

Generally speaking if there's no rain during the spring upland bird hatches do well, as dry as it was this year I think most upland bird populations should benefit.

I have been seeing lots of small birds(grouse and chukar) lately. Not so sure that the delayed 2 week season opener(from Sept 1st) will really benefit the birds that much.

The quail around my place just had a 3rd hatch. Chukar had a 2nd hatch about 3 weeks ago. Turkey hatch was not as good up here.
