Electrical: question fuse size?

I am going to wire some kc driving lights into the jeep. I am going to use the factory fog light wiring harness from the jeep.
I am going to be putting a inline fuse on each line to each light.

So the question is. The lights are 55w what size amp fuse should I be running?

The wire is 14ga if that matters.

It pencils out to 4.5 amps,  but you should be fine with a 7 amp fuse.

Watts/voltage for current draw. If you figure same power when battery is a little low and current is higher, then have the safety limit for current.

If you are using the factory wiring harness, I would check to see if there is already a fuse on that circuit.

I looked and didn’t see a fuse specifically for the fog lights. So it has me wondering why it wouldn’t so I’ll just splice some inline fuses in. I have to run a extra chunk of wire from the new positions of the lights compared to the factory anyways.

Correction.  If they are  55w each you will need to double the amperage.  So if you are just fusing a single lite it's 5 amps a side.  Or you could just put a 12 amp fuse in the feed for both of them.

My guess is that it is on a fuse somewhere, there wouldn't be a #14 wire in a factory harness that doesn't have protection on it.  Most likely it's combined with other loads and isn't labeled as fog lamps in the fuse panel.  There are testers or you just pull fuses one at a time until you lose power there and then you know what fuse it's on.  A good place to start is probably other lights, blinkers or stuff somewhat associated with it.

Adding a fuse at the load would help somewhat but you usually try to fuse them as close to the source of energy possible so you protect the entire length of wire (and load).  No harm in doing so, it just makes troubleshooting potentially more challenging if you lose power and have multiple fuses on the same circuit.

I believe it's either slot 3 or 4 in the fuse box behind the glove box

I looked in the fuse box under the hood lol. Checked the one in the jockey box and it does have a fuse in there. It’s a 20amp for the fog lights.
