All I wanna do is go flyfishing somewhere...
« on: July 14, 2021, 07:33:47 PM »
I've read the regs online.... more nonsense.

I remember the regs when I was a kid.  On one page, there were details on
daily bag limit
minimum size

On another page:
Bait allowed
artificial lures only
Fly-fishing only

Now you need a law degree and a degree in the english language

All I want to do is find a nice stream where the regs are clear and concise so I can toss a fly and catch a fish.

Lots of places. What area of the state?
The reg’s in terms of fly fishing always seemed simple to me because you didn’t have to worry about bait or barbless hooks or anything(I pretty much pinch my barbs always when I’m fly fishing)
6/1 always seemed to be the magic number and I don’t spend much time fishing streams on the west side, so not much time spent worrying about salmon smolts.

Our fishing regulations are ridiculous. And they change at the drop of a hat with emergency openings and closures.

Get the WDFW app, click on a river or lake and the regs pop up.  It's still a mish mash but at least you don't have to sort through the phone book of regulations.

You can fly fish anywhere that is open for fishing.
.
There are even specific places for "no bait, no Barb's"
There are even "fly fishing only" waters...
.
Not sure what you are asking for...
.
There is no such restrictions as "no fly-fishing"

Now, if you want recommendations, ..
What type of fish?
Native?
Or, planted huge trout that have been caught so many times they don't have lips anymore, but look good in pictures?
