magpro powder and 300 wsm.
« on: April 28, 2009, 01:31:42 PM »
Anyone use this powder for the 300wsm???  Will be loading 180 gr. Nosler partitions.  Any data would be appreciated.

Thank you

Magpro shoots good but I found it to be a bit dirty.
I have loaded and chrono'd 165 gr Hornadys with 80 gr at a velocity of 2990 fps and 180 Hornadys with 76.5 gr of Magpro at 2860 fps out of my Tikka 300wsm with 24" barrel.  I worked those loads up and found them to be the max loads for my rifle. I found lower velocities with bullets lighter and heavier than those above. Magpro seems to be at its optimum performance with 165 and 180 gr bullets.

H4350, Hunter, and W760 all shoot sub moa outa my 300wsm..

H4350,  very accurate!
Hunter, faster and very accurate!
W760, faster than H4350 but the least accraute of the 3.  Still sub moa!!

These have worked for me with 165s, 168's and 180's.

Good luck!

I'm using IMR4831 with my Tikka pushing 180grn. E-tips at just over 3000fps. Shoots very good groups.

well, am trying to figure out a load for my brother's new BAR.  It shoots like a dream with factory ammo, but want to work up some loads to try.

Guys, I started working on these loads today, using the Magpro.  76 grains is to the bottom of the neck.  It looks like it will be a compressed load by the time I seat the bullet where it is supposed to be.  Accurate shows a max load of 78 grains, so I am confused.

Any help??   :dunno: :dunno:
