Wyoming Sage Grouse
« on: August 12, 2021, 09:02:16 PM »
Has anyone made the September trip to Wyoming to hunt sage grouse? I am headed there for about a week in September with my 3 pointers to knock sage grouse off the bucket list if I can.  Wondering if anyone else who has made the trip is willing to share information about their hunt and hunting sage grouse in general.

We’ve hunted them while there for antelope. More opportunistic than intentional though. Good times!

I saw a ton when we were hunting south of Tensleep 7 years ago but little to no grouse around Thermopolis.  Outside of Tensleep I had three stalks blown by those suckers picking up practically underfoot.

I have seen them while deer or antelope hunting.

If I were going I would be looking at the area that would be inside of a triangle with the three points being Lander, Rock Springs and Rawlins.

I saw good numbers years ago in the Sweetwater station area north and south of highway 287 / Sweetwater River.

Take pictures and let us know how it goes.
