Eastern Washington bear hunting
« on: April 03, 2022, 08:00:44 AM »
I've decided I want to learn to hunt black bears, but a bit unsure about going out solo. I've done some e-scouting for a few spots in Eastern Washington that I plan to look at before the season starts in August. If anyone is interested in helping, feel free to message me.

I'd look at Bearpaws DIY map hunts.

Find berry patches at higher elevations that are still ripe, and a cool water source/shade nearby.

Think under the canopy in the shade, as that's where you will find fresh berries into late august.

Thanks for the input. I've searched out what looks like berry patches through my software so I plan to check those areas out to confirm. I'm somewhat hesitant of going miles back all by myself, especially with one area having known grizzly sightings. I've usually gone deer hunting with my dad, he has no interest in going bear hunting and not really in shape to go back so right now I'm going solo.

It sounds like you want a partner, not a bad idea given gas prices.

Fill out your profile and maybe someone will hit you up

I'd look at Bearpaws DIY map hunts.

This will save you days in scouting and hundreds of dollars in gas these days.

Don't expect to find a bear tied to a tree with these GPS points, but you will get a great idea of where bears hang out and have been seen.
