Barnes Vor-tx surprise
« on: October 07, 2021, 10:07:21 PM »
I picked up a couple boxes of .243 Barnes vor-tx ttsx a few weeks ago at sportsman’s warehouse planning on using it in my sons gun for deer this year. Well we have been out shooting a few times now with other Ammo and it was time today to dial in with the Barnes in prep for the season. When I loaded the magazine,  I couldn’t get a round to chamber so I started investingating… we’ll come to find out Barnes had put .308 win bullets in the .243 box. I have another box at home I’m hoping it’s not the same story. That’s a first for me

Looks like you’ll get some free ammo from Barnes.
Best of luck.

Wow. I'm sure QC took a big dive with the push to get ammo on the shelves for hunting season but mislabeling calibers could get ugly.

Good thing it was a caliber that couldn't be chambered.

Could of easily been some other customer did it on accident or even on purpose. 243 is probably cheaper then the 308

I guess it’s possible, but I cut the clear sticker Barnes seals there boxes with.

About 7 or 8 years ago I bought some Barnes 223 and one of the bullets was loaded upside-down somehow. Unopened box when I got it.

This is very interesting. A couple years ago I opened a factory sealed box of same ammo in .300 win mag and one round was a 7mm rem mag. Called Barnes and they send me three .300 win rounds. I thought it weird that they only sent me three rounds.

That is weird. They ended up sending me 3 boxes of .243, no explanation or apology. I love the Ammo and appreciate them making it right but it’s pretty concerning that the quality control is that poor.

Agreed. This is the only time I’ve heard of this happening besides my experience. They definitely have a QC issue.
