Biscuits and Gravy - Bear Down

Been hunting all over the mountain, and look who meets me at the front door this morning.  10 yard shot with the .243 right between the eyes.    I was still wearing my bedroom slippers and sipping coffee.  Feels good to clear my slate & be able to focus on the deer opener.  Young boar about 150 lbs. killed my favorite chicken and been testing our garage doors.  Problem solved.  He's not the biggest, but he'll eat good!

Work smarter not harder. Next time tie a rope around the legs and just lift him with the bucket. That way you don't risk injury trying to roll him.

Congrats.  Reminds me of an elk "hunt" I went on in New Mexico  in the early 90's.  I was staying with a buddy on his cattle ranch that had a bunch of elk.  I woke up super early, geared up for really cold weather, and then my buddy wakes up about 45 minutes after sunrise, makes some bacon and eggs for breakfast in the kitchen, sits down in his favorite chair in his living room, and then watches the elk cruise by the window.  I get all excited when I see a 4x4, and he laughs and says not to waste time on the little ones.  Another hour or so (and about 30 elk) goes by, a monster walks by about 75 yards from the house, he cracks the window just enough to get the barrel outside, and then boom, elk drops.  He hadn't even bothered to put pants or a shirt on by this point.  Still just in socks and boxers.  Wife comes down super mad because the shot woke her up.  A couple other elk walk up to the one that was shot and just kind of look at it like, huh, wonder what happened to old buddy.  Strange hunt, if that's the right word...  Congrats on your bear.

Logola that is a great elk story.  We had a good laugh this morning!
