Found my first bear
« on: October 21, 2021, 02:54:58 PM »
Deer hunting for the first year up by the steel Bridge and was looking in a thick wooded area for a possible deer I heard moving around. About 25 feet behind me I hear a big log breaking and figured it was a bear. Few minutes pass by and I hear a grunt right behind me. Didn't see him since I only have a deer tag & thought it would be better not to try and find him.

Pretty cool expierence thogh!!

Good call. Great experiences out in the woods.

Bears usually huff and pop.  Deer however grunt quite a bit.

Hard call on what the critter was.  Not sure how familiar you are with deer trying to scent you, or a bear woofing at you, not to be rivaled by a spike bull barking right behind you, that’s one of my favorites in the dark.

Just watched a bear & deer video the sound was almost like a deer grunt but a little deeper. Almost makes me wonder if it was a buck on the hillside behind me, I guess I should have waited for a while and scoped out the situation. Super thick up in that area though.
