BHA and WA Spring Bear??
« on: November 23, 2021, 03:50:10 PM »
Anybody know their level of involvement?
I know they took a lot of money from the folks that worked to end predator hunting in BC.
Anybody know?

Not sure I’m understanding you correctly, but are you looking for a link between BHA and the loss of a spring bear permit hunting?

I saw one post on FB from them asking for hunters to comment. They are not known for predator management.

I don't have FB or I'd ask in the thread why an organization that gets privately funded by hunters isn't adhering to some of their stated goals:

-Organizing chapter members to interact with elected and agency leaders relevant to BHA's mission and our shared passion for public lands, waters and wildlife.

I was a WA BHA member for 1x year and gave it up at the complete lack of action taken, other than the occasional trash cleanup.

Not a BHA member but I poked around some.

They're not to blame here.

Note the Oct 27 date of this post, there's also a new post shsring the story from the statesman examiner newspaper.

I also notice they had 2 shares and 9 likes, so it didn't get a lot of traction there either.

1900 members in the Washington chapter, very very little input on the two threads talking about spring bear

They're not to blame, but they didn't help either.

Here's how much they cared after the fact

So IMO its not the hunting .orgs to blame.

NOT BHA, not SCI not INWC none of them.

Hunters just don't give a chit until its gone.

Hunting Washington forum is the most pro-active social media site I've seen in any platform BY FAR for Washington, even so it's less than 10% of all Washington hunters, and low participation in these threads.

On a hunting site like this....loosing spring bear thread ougt to eclipse a Kyle Rittenhouse thread  :'(

I Agree.
I have to believe that the spring bear hunt issue will ramp up a little more after the first of the year, when there not able to buy there permit app. But who knows I may be wrong.

BHA sent an e-mail to all members telling them to comment on supporting the hunt along with the links on how to do it.

Are you looking to join a .org and want advice?

I read your post as finger pointing, sorry.  There's been a lot of negative and heated discussion about BHA on this forum,  so I was biased that you were pointing fingers at them.

I'm no fan of BHA and its origions, but they've done some good work and seem to have good people in the local chapters.
