You want to be hands free eventually, but you'll still have to re-enforce through the excitement.
Have/are you planning on using the "whoa" command? This and come/here are the two most important in my book period. Lots of different opinions on your dog holding point through flush and shot. I personally hunt mostly alone and want my dog to break on flush....others like it the other way for various reasons.There is no right or wrong. Keep it simple, learn how to read your dog and have fun.
